Quartz kitchen countertops have some unique attributes that make them outstanding among other stone countertops. It is heat, humidity, and scratch resistant that improve the aesthetic and functionality of the kitchen. You may think the countertop is completely crafted from quartz, but 10% is polymeric or cement base binder, and 90% is broken down granite, marble, or natural stones.

But Corona quartz countertops contain a large proportion of quartz blended and glued with other binders with smooth texture and pigmentation. Technically, quartz countertops may be referred to as engineered stone that precisely describes its contents and manufacturing process. In a nutshell, it does contain some proportion of natural quartz, but not solid quartz dug up from the mine with other compounds. But the used resin in the countertop makes it nonporous, antimicrobial, and NSF licensed.

Granite is a naturally hard stone extracted from mines, cut, and polished to shape a countertop. But quartz countertops are not completely natural. Premium countertops contain 95% quartz and other 5% resin. Granite comes in varied shades and patterns depending on the formation, cooling, and congealing of molten substances. These natural processes of two granite countertops are dissimilar. But quartz countertops are appreciated by homeowners due to their aesthetic look. It appears like stone yet customized to varied designs. The look of quartz is limited, but it is more durable and does not break or scratch easily. The polish of quartz can vary from natural rustic to lush shine.

Engineered stone

As quartz is engineered stone, it is sturdier than natural stone. On the Mohs hardness scale, quartz7 stands at 7 out of 10, signifying it can withstand regular wear and tear as the surface does not contain any pores, so spills and stains would not sip in, damaging the color or polish permanently.

After a spill, a quick mop will restore the look and polish. As the surface is nonporous, no microorganisms or bacteria breed in quartz, keeping it germ-free. A clean with warm water and mild cleanser keep the quartz countertop shining. Moreover, quartz countertop does not require waxing or polishing like natural stone countertops.

Eco friendly

Corona quartz countertops come with uniform pigmentation and appearance that is absent in granite countertops. The even and unswerving look of quartz is an unmistakable advantage. As the surface of the countertop is uniform, if it is chipped, which is unlikely to happen, mending is easy. The spectrum of color in regard to a quartz countertop is wide. You can select almost any color that blends with the décor of your home. Quartz is more eco-friendly than granite as it is made from local recycled minerals. As quartz comes with a wide spectrum of colors, it can imitate the look and texture of natural stones. If you like the look of granite or marble but have the advantage of quartz, you can infuse both in quartz countertops.
